Dual Enrollment

The Dual Enrollment Program is an opportunity for qualified high school students to earn college credits for FREE. Dual Enrollment is a program that provides funding for students at eligible high schools that take college-level course work for credit towards both high school and college graduation requirements. Students can be full-time or part-time college students in the Fall, Spring, or Summer. Classes will be offered at the college campus. The most popular colleges that DHS students participate in Dual Enrollment with are Gwinnett Technical College and Georgia Gwinnett College (GGC). However, students can enter the Dual Enrollment program with a participating college or university.

Only students who will be a Junior (11th) or a Senior (12th) will be able to participate in Dual Enrollment. Students must be on track to graduate with their grade level and must have at least a 2.6 overall GPA. Beyond these Discovery HS requirements, the student must meet ALL college entrance requirements for the college they wish to take Dual Enrollment (DE) classes with.

If applying to any other college for Dual Enrollment, check their website for updated requirements and deadlines.

Who Pays for Dual Enrollment?

The Dual Enrollment Program is funded through the state. The funds cover tuition, mandatory institutional feels and textbooks. Students are responsible for Late fees and program-specific fees (lab fees, supply fees). Your HOPE funds are not impacted. Students must fill out the Dual Enrollment Funding Application in order to receive state funding.

Is transportation available?

Due to funding, there is no transportation to the college campuses available for students. All students participating in Dual Enrollment MUST have their own method of transportation to attend their courses at the college campus.
